Jewellery Care

Each piece of Oddie & Hope jewellery is individually handmade and hand-formed using sterling silver, gold and carefully selected gemstones and pearls. With thoughtful care, your jewellery will retain its beauty and character for many years.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver naturally reacts with the air and may develop a darker patina over time. This is normal and part of the character of the metal.

To keep your jewellery looking its best, store it in a tarnish-free jewellery pouch when not being worn and polish occasionally with silver polish or a silver polish impregnated cloth.

Gold

Gold is a durable precious metal that requires little maintenance. Over time it may lose some of its shine through everyday wear.

To restore its lustre, gently polish with a soft jewellery cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners, which may damage the surface of the metal.

Pearls

Pearls are delicate natural materials and should be treated with particular care.

Avoid exposing pearls to perfumes, cosmetics or chemicals, as these can affect their lustre. It is best to put pearl jewellery on after applying makeup or fragrance.

After wearing, gently wipe pearls with a soft cloth and store them separately to avoid scratches.

Gemstones

Gemstones are natural materials and may vary in hardness and durability. To protect them:

  • avoid knocks or impact

  • remove jewellery before sports or heavy work

  • avoid exposure to harsh chemicals

If cleaning is needed, wipe gently with a soft cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners unless advised for that particular gemstone.

Wearing Your Jewellery

Jewellery is designed to be worn and enjoyed, but removing it during certain activities will help keep it in excellent condition.

We recommend removing jewellery when:

  • swimming or bathing

  • exercising or gardening

  • applying perfumes, lotions or hairspray

Chemicals and moisture can accelerate tarnishing and may affect pearls and gemstones.

Storing Your Jewellery

When not wearing your jewellery:

  • store pieces in a tarnish-free jewellery pouch or jewellery box

  • keep items separate to prevent scratching

  • avoid storing jewellery in damp environments

Handmade Jewellery

Every Oddie & Hope piece is handmade and hand-formed, meaning subtle variations are part of the design. Over time, small signs of wear and natural patina may develop, adding character and reflecting the life of the jewellery.
